About Us
E.H.I. of Connecticut
The Environmental Health Institute of Connecticut (EHICT) offers field inspection training programs for Connecticut Certified Inspectors of subsurface sewage disposal systems. The courses EHICT offers provides instruction in multiple areas of field instruction techniques with a team of experienced local health department or district inspectors.
Topics covered in the courses include:
- Determining horizontal separating distances in the field
- Using lasers, levels and transits to check vertical separation distances, elevations and slopes
- Overview of various types of septic system products
- Documenting field observations for compliance with the CT Public Health Code and Technical Standards
- Overview of septic tank properties, uses, and maintenace.

EHICT Courses
Interested in signing up for an upcoming course? Select the course you would like to join and click “Register.” This will bring you to a Google Form link. You will recieve a payment link once you are approved for the course. Each event has an attendee limit. If registration is full – fear not! EHICT aims to hold multiple sections of each course a year. Those who sign up after registration is full will be the first notified of the next available course.
